SUBCISSION

Subcission is a process used to treat deep facial lines and scars. It involves separating the skin tissue in the affected area from deeper scar tissue. Dr. Berger uses a special wire to create tunnels under the skin that the body will naturally fill with collagen. Thus, unwanted depressions and wrinkles plump up, leveling off with the rest of the skin area. Patients receive local anesthesia before the procedure, which takes about an hour to perform. Some slight bruising may occur and vigorous activity should be avoided for a few days afterward. Subcission is a natural alternative to Restylane® or BOTOX® for smoothing out acne scars, marionette lines, and nasolabial folds.
